We Are On Our Way

Van all packed up. Looks as though there  is just enough room for the dogs. We were going to take 2 bikes but decided on just the one so Simon can go off and do his thing. Don't think 2 would have fitted inside anyway. The M6 was an absolute nightmare, thinking we would get here at 4pm, we didn't get to Windermere until 6pm. Our first stop was fish n chips!

We had to give the dogs a walk as soon as we reached Patterdale, there are bridleways just outside the gate of the cottage so we took off in the direction of Ullswater. We had to cut the walk short as the showers we had been getting all day seemed to join together and then it rained all night.

Some views across to Patterdale village, not quite summer skies but it wasn't raining!

Lovely sheep everywhere, most of them a delicate shade of pink. Down in Dorset the sheep have all been shorn but these still have their jackets on, needed at the moment as it's sheeting down with rain!

Nice weather for geese though. Lots of Pink footed geese (I think) on Ullswater. Not sure about the white one though.

The cottage was all on the ground floor, think it must have been a garage once before. Nobody else is here and it is magically quiet. To be honest I would only say 'dog tolerant' rather than 'dog friendly'. If we brought 2 children would we have had to pay £30 extra? There was no welcome pack, we at least expected a pint of milk as it's out in the sticks a bit, but luckily we came prepared. Beautiful cottage, well equipped, 'cosy' obviously meaning tiny but just perfect for two.

The garden is beautiful. All the rhododendrons & azaleas are flowering. Birds everywhere and apparently a red squirrel is often seen so I'll keep my eyes open for that. It's lovely to be able to catch glimpses of the fells through the trees.

The dogs certainly are enjoying the garden, lots of smells and hiding places. It's a real shame the weather couldn't be a bit kinder but I think we had summer last week.

I have had some invites for a Tweat Up with 2 Twitter pals, @RareBreedGoats to go visit the famous Jorvik the Bagot goat and an invite from @asheepdogdiary to go meet the Search and Rescue dogs at Kirkstone Pass. Regardless of the weather I expect we will have a great time...at leats we aren't at work!!
